Ferdinand Richardt, "Outlet of Niagara", 1855. Collection of Melinda Young Stuart. |
This is an experimental entry to help me learn how to create and maintain this blog, as a means of sharing my research and discoveries about the Danish-American 19th-century artist whose life and works I have been collecting and documenting for twenty years.
I begin by posting a quick image of the first Richardt painting I acquired, one of his views of the Niagara Falls area. This one depicts the 'outlet of Niagara', the Niagara River looking north toward Lake Ontario, as seen from a cliff below the Falls.
